This project required us to make a poster for the school play "Dark of the Moon." The program I used to create mine was Photoshop. The main tools I used in Photoshop were the paintbrush, text, and bucket. Before we started working on our final design we sketched some ideas and tried new things out. Once I had my final design I still put it through some changes after getting feedback.
The title "Dark of the Moon" made me think of a dark and erie environment. The play is based in the Appalachian Mountains so I was able to make it foggy because it matched. I wanted to make the moon stand out to the background so I made it very bright.
Once I had an idea I started to add more details such as trees, stars and depth. I made the trees and fog more subtle to add a darker environment. I wanted the poster to be very eye catching to draw an audience so I made the text the brightest thing so it would be very readable.
The text was probably the feature I messed with the most because it was hard to find a good match. At first I had very basic text and it didn't match the environment of the poster. After I got some feedback on the text I decided to go with a more old style, calligraphic looking text and it turned out to match more.
I am very happy with how my poster turned out. I think my use of colors, atmosphere, and environment helped improve the look. I hope that my poster wins so that I can hopefully do ore stuff like this for people.
